Grief & Bereavement Counselling

Compassionate support through loss and change

Drawing on my experience supporting people within a hospice, I offer a calm and thoughtful space to explore grief at your own pace. Every loss is different, and counselling provides an opportunity to make sense of your experience while finding a way forward.

Whether your loss is recent or many years ago, together we work towards greater understanding, adjustment and hope.

There is no right way to grieve

Grief can bring sadness, anger, anxiety, guilt, numbness or a sense of feeling lost. At times you may feel you are coping well, only to find yourself overwhelmed again when you least expect it.

You may also find that the people around you are grieving differently, have returned to their everyday lives, or simply do not know what to say. Counselling gives you somewhere you do not have to worry about how your grief affects anybody else.

How counselling can help

Counselling is not about trying to “get over” your loss or encouraging you to move on before you are ready. It is a space to talk about the person who died, the relationship you had, what you miss and anything that may feel difficult, complicated or unresolved.

Over time, the aim is not to leave your grief behind, but to find a way of carrying your loss while gradually rebuilding a life around it.

Areas I work with

My counselling room is based in Thame, and I regularly see clients from Aylesbury, Haddenham, Long Crendon, Chinnor, Princes Risborough, Wheatley, Bicester, Oxford and across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Online appointments are also available throughout the United Kingdom.

If you are considering grief or bereavement counselling and would like to talk about whether I might be the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 15-minute telephone or Zoom consultation.

You are also welcome to get in touch to arrange a first session.
